Doxa lost out on qualification for the this years Open Cup on goal difference. The 7-0 win over Yakima was beaten by a 10-1 scoreline when Sahauros played the same opponent. In hindsight, opening up against Yakima played against Doxa who could have benefited from knowing how many goals they needed to score. For 60 minutes of the game with Sacramento Gold, Doxa were down to 10 men and were, for the most part, the better team. In fact, Doxa created several good opportunities before Gold scored on their one shot on goal in the second half!
Overall, the tournament was a good stepping stone for the club, with all 22 players traveling to Sacramento. The new jerseys and t-shirts were also a huge success, allowing the team to be represented in style.
